How To Celebrate National CBD Day at Home

National CBD Day (August 8) is a time to celebrate the benefits of hemp-derived CBD. Here are the seven best activities to try.

August 8 may not be as well known as its popular cousin, April 20, but with about 14.28% of the U.S. population using CBD on a regular basis, it’s no surprise that the renowned compound from the hemp plant now has its own dedicated day.

National CBD Day only became official in 2018 when a CBD brand coined the term to celebrate the restorative properties of cannabidiol that millions of Americans benefit from every day.

Lucky for CBD fans, there are plenty of ways you can turn August 8 into your own personal celebration of CBD and its effects on mind-body balance.

Read on to learn the seven best activities you should try on National CBD Day.

1. Incorporate Hemp Into Your Diet (and Life)

CBD is derived from hemp, a nutritious plant that has been a staple of many civilizations around the world for thousands of years. Though hemp’s leaves, flowers and stems are the source of CBD and the terpenes (or essential oil compounds) that work with other compounds in hemp to amplify their overall effects, the plant itself is incredibly versatile. For many years, hemp has been used to make everything from paper and ropes to bioplastics and biofuel.

On National CBD Day, consider buying a pair of hemp shoes or a hemp shirt. You can also prepare meals and snacks that highlight the protein-rich wonders of hemp seeds, including hemp granola, hemp butter, hemp milk smoothies and more.

Pro tip: After your meal, soothe and balance your digestive system with SETTLE, an Ayurvedic tincture of ginger, lemon and peppermint essential oils, all amplified with hemp-derived CBD.

2. Practice Sleep Meditation

Getting a good night’s rest can impact all aspects of your health, including your metabolism and immune system. However with bright screens, stress, caffeine and other burdens or distractions, it’s all too common for people to get a lackluster night’s rest.

Admittedly, there are many all-natural techniques that you can incorporate into your bedtime routine to help you relax and experience better deep sleep cycles, including gentle yoga poses. You can also celebrate National CBD Day by taking a dropperful of STOP, a tincture that includes hemp CBD to amplify the effects of chamomile, valerian root and lavender essential oils, which have been used for centuries to soothe the mind and provide a restful sleep.

Pro tip: Drink a tea made of the same herbs (lavender, valerian root and/or chamomile) before you take STOP.

3. Try a Workout You Haven’t Done Before

CBD has been touted for its ability to promote mobility and soothe aches from muscle fatigue (though other hacks like drinking water, sleep and massage are all reliable tips as well). On August 8, get moving in a new, inspired way by trying an at-home or in-class workout that you haven’t tried before.

Whether it’s Zumba, boxing or yoga, trying a new exercise style can help you target muscles you may not normally use and change up an otherwise repetitive self-care routine. After your workout, take a dropperful of RECOVER (made with the anti-inflammatory essential oils of turmeric, black pepper and clove as well as CBD) or apply REWIND Muscle Rub on any sore spots to support your body’s natural healing process.

Pro tip: Give yourself — or your partner — an Ayurvedic massage after a strenuous workout. It’s a great self-care or bonding activity!

4. Unleash Your Creativity

Creativity doesn’t have to be in service of a serious artistic project — simply doodling, experimenting with watercolors, writing a poem or teaching yourself a new instrument or skill can all help you express yourself. Meditation art — the practice of mindfully creating or appreciating art, whatever that may look like for you — is a great way to tap into your imagination and de-stress from the bustle of your day-to-day responsibilities.

On National CBD Day, celebrate your creativity by setting aside some time, whether it’s half an hour or two, to let yourself engage in creative play. This can mean arranging colorful fruits on a plate in a pretty way or drawing an abstract self-portrait with paints and pencils you have on hand.

Pro tip: Take a dropperful of SLOW, which is made from Ayurvedic essential oils such as sweet fennel, basil and orange as well as CBD, to help you relax into a creative headspace.

5. Cultivate Your Relationships

Though self-care often involves working on yourself (alone), cultivating your cherished relationships is an important part of your joy and well-being. On National CBD Day, invite some of your friends or family members to a picnic, hike, beach or other outdoor location for a day of relaxing activities. If you need a boost of energy to help you get through the day gracefully and calmly, take GO tincture, made from CBD and cardamom, ginger and rosemary essential oils.

Pro tip: There’s no need to plan and coordinate an entire afternoon of in-person activities if you don’t have the time. Schedule a call with some of your long-distance friends on August 8, and bring your own drinks or snacks for a DIY happy hour

6. Prioritize Your Emotional Healing

Meditation can be a powerful tool to experience greater calmness, awareness, focus and gratitude, and there are dozens of ways you can incorporate it into your life for your own emotional healing. This year on August 8 take some time to center your own healing journey with a relaxing Ayurvedic CBD tincture to help you clear your mind.

After you find a quiet, cool space in your home where you can settle comfortably for however long you plan on meditating, try one of these six healing techniques (or your own) to help you cope with burnout, stress, fatigue and emotional triggers. You can also practice mindfulness in creative ways such as baking, playing games or immersing yourself in nature.

Pro tip: Keep a daily journal where you jot down your mood throughout the day. How do certain foods, activities or events affect your moment-to-moment mood?

7. Read and Be Curious

We all know that reading is an important activity, but there are real health benefits associated with cracking open a book, including improved brain connectivity, reduced chance of cognitive decline, lengthened lifespan and more. Staying curious and learning new things from books — whether it’s a work of fiction in translation or the history of a culture you’re unfamiliar with — can be an important part of staying mentally agile, developing empathy and becoming a more well-rounded person.
